The Alaska State Legislature is planning a brief session without taking any action on Tuesday, and legislative leaders say they’ve already completed their intended work for the special session, which ends on Aug. 31.

Alaska’s top elected officials expressed hope about President Donald Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage on Friday. 

At least 16 events are planned statewide, including vigils, rallies and a large Ukrainian flag unveiling in Anchorage, to protest the presidents and show support for ending the war in Ukraine.
