BC taking public comment on New Polaris gold mine near Tulsequah River amid Alaskan opposition

A proposed gold mine in northern B.C. continues to stir up controversy across the border.

The mine site is 100 km south of Atlin, B.C. near Juneau. It sits on the edge of the Tulsequah River and dates back to 1929, when prospectors first discovered gold at the site. The mine was operated intermittently between 1937 and 1957.

Project owner Canagold says the reopening would see the underground mine produce more than 90,000 kg of ore daily, while creating jobs and funding the cleanup of a legacy mine site…(Read full story)
