North Franklin construction postponed, Taku Boulevard construction begins Aug. 3
The first phase of construction work along North Franklin Street in downtown Juneau has been postponed to summer of 2027. Early site investigation revealed more preparation is needed than what was originally planned for. The area will return to normal traffic and pedestrian access by Monday, Aug. 3.

Airport seeks public comment on renewal of passenger charge
Juneau International Airport is seeking public comment on a proposed Passenger Facility Charge of $4.50 per eligible enplaned passenger that is proposed to take effect Nov. 1, 2026, and expire Aug. 31, 2035.

Coast Guard holds change-of-command ceremony in Juneau
U.S. Coast Guard Capt. Ginny Nadolny relieved Capt. Stanley Fields as sector commander of Coast Guard Sector Southeast Alaska during a change-of-command ceremony Friday at Coast Guard Station Juneau.

Construction on North Franklin Street begins Wednesday, July 15. The project will make necessary upgrades to water, wastewater and storm drain utilities, and also replace the street’s curb, gutters, sidewalk, pedestrian structures, and pavement.
