Thunder Mountain, Juneau-Douglas face off in annual alumni hoops

The alumni from now-defunct Thunder Mountain High School played their annual basketball game on Tuesday at Thunder Mountain Middle School. Sam Lockhart scored 36 points for the blue team to topple the white team 94-87, despite 31 points from Pedrin Saceda-Hurt and 19 from James Polasky.


Lockhart (2024) currently plays for Edmonds College in Washington, Polasky (2024) for St. Olaf College in Minnesota, and Saceda-Hurt (2025 JDHS vis TMHS) for Luther College in Idaho.


Rounding out the blue team rosters were Cody Grussendorf (2010) with 16 points, Mahina Toutaiolepo (2017) 14 points, TJ Guevarra (2024) 12 points, Kasen Ludeman (2024) nine points, Matthew Johns (2022) five points, and Vaipuna Toutaiolepo (2019) two points.


Rounding out the white team roster were Matt Seymour (2014) with 15 points, Ben Sikes (2025 JDHS via TMHS) 11 points, Harbor Thomas (2024) four points, Matthew Hartsock (2022) three points, Lance Nierra (2024) two points and John Correa (2011) two points.

The blue team led 48-42 at the half. Former coach John Blasco oversaw the teams.


Across town the Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé Crimson Bears played against Crimson Bears alumni on Tuesday. 


JDHS alumni players on the court included Terrance Wheat, Orion Dybdahl, Kaleb Tompkins, Travis Dybdahl, Kolby Hoover. Ben Sikes, Gavin Gerrin, Sean Oliver, Pedrin Saceda-Hurt, Ahmir Parker, Jhowel Estigoy, Tony Yadao, Alwen Carrillo, and Adrell Mulgrew-Truitt.


The JDHS team included Brandon Casperson, Zachary Polasky, Ryland Carlson, Elias Dybdahl, Tyler Frisby, Logan Carriker, Erik Thompson, Micah Nelson, Kurt Kuppert, Hunter Carte, Christian Rielly, Joren Gasga, Noah Ault, assistant coaches Timothy, Mike Carriker, Vince Yadao and coach Robert Casperson. 


No scorebook was kept, but according to sources assistant coach David Timothy led the alumni to victory by 10 points.
