CBJ shouldn’t just accept highest offer for City Hall

What to do with the old City Hall is not merely a financial issue. Its location makes that property central to downtown Juneau, and it would be appalling if it turned into yet another tanzanite or T-shirt shop that is closed in the winter.

The city should fully consider the implications of how it sells the property. There is no doubt that Sealaska Heritage Institute has done wonders for the adjoining area, transforming the feel of that part of downtown.

Find out how much anyone is willing to offer, including SHI. And then factor in what would become of the property in that prime spot under the new owners. 

This is not a case where it would make sense to just accept the highest offer.
