Crimson Bears volley in Mt. Edgecumbe tournament

The Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé Crimson Bears volleyball team began pool play action Thursday at Mt. Edgecumbe High School’s Southeast Super Slamma Jamma Volleyball Tournament in Sitka.
The Crimson Bears posted a 3-3 set record in three matches.
JDHS lost to the Kenai Kardinals 25-9, 25-23; split with the Sitka Wolves, falling 25-20 and winning 25-21; and swept the Kotzebue Huskies 25-23, 27-25.
Standings after Thursday have Kenai 6-0, Nikiski Bulldogs 5-1, Sitka 4-2, MEHS Braves 2-2, JDHS 3-3, Kotzebue 0-6 and Bethel Warriors 0-6. The Ketchikan Kings will be added to the action on Friday as Pool Play continues.
Other Thursday scores included Sitka 25 Bethel 15; Sitka 25 Bethel 19; Nikiski 25 Kotzebue 11; Nikiski 25 Kotzebue 23; Kenai 25 MEHS 16; Kenai 25 MEHS 15; Nikiski 26 Bethel 16; Nikiski 25 Bethel 13; Nikiski 25 Sitka 20; Sitka 25 Nikiski 21; MEHS 25 Bethel 20; MEHS 25 Bethel 16; Kenai 25 Kotzebue 15; and Kenai 25 Kotzebue 11.
Based on pool play the top four teams will be placed in Saturday’s King Salmon tournament and the bottom four in the Coho Salmon tournament.
