A fire at an eight-unit apartment building Wednesday morning damaged one residence and resulted in one person being treated for minor injuries, according to officials.
The fire occurred before dawn at a JAMHI Health and Wellness apartment complex in Salmon Creek, according to a statement issued by the nonprofit organization.
"All residents are safe and accounted for, supported by the swift actions of our team and local emergency services," the statement notes. "Currently, it appears the damage is contained to a single unit, and our facilities team is evaluating all units in the impacted building to confirm."
"All impacted residents have been relocated to a safe, secure location, and each is receiving support from JAMHI staff."
Five fire response vehicles, along with off-duty personnel and chief officers, quickly knocked the fire down upon arrival, according to a statement by Capital City Fire/Rescue. One person in the damaged apartment was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital with minor injuries and the other seven apartments were evacuated as a precaution.
"Red Cross has been notified to help those that have been displaced," the CCFR statement notes.
