One person was hospitalized with burns from a fire that destroyed a single-wide trailer on Sunday morning, according to Capital City Fire/Rescue.
CCFR was alerted to the incident in the 9900 block of Stephen Richard Drive at 8:42 a.m., according to Assistant Chief Sam Russell. The trailer was fully engulfed with heavy smoke visible when firefighters arrived five minutes later.
"Engine 31 arrived on scene and immediately began fire attack after reporting a large smoke column and active fire conditions," a post at 10:08 a.m. on CCFR’s Facebook page notes. "Crews encountered heavy fire throughout the structure. Firefighters worked quickly to ensure all occupants were safely out while additional crews handled fire suppression, utility control, and scene safety."
The fire was knocked down at 8:56 a.m., according to Russell.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to CCFR’s post. The severity of burns to the person hospitalized was not stated.
The mobile home did not have a smoke detector, the fire department’s post notes.
"Residents are reminded to make sure their homes have a working smoke detector installed and properly maintained," the post adds.
