GCLL softball teams winning titles as local season winds to a close

The Gastineau Channel Little League softball all-star teams have had two teams draped in championship banners and another remaining to do the same as the local season approaches its end.
The GCLL Majors Softball (10- to 12-year-olds) all-star team won the Alaska Little League District 2 Softball Championship over Ketchikan in a best-of-five series Monday through Wednesday at Ketchikan. They now play a best-of-three series against District 1 winner Soldotna in the 2026 State Little League Softball Tournament beginning Saturday at Palmer. That winner will advance to the Western Regional Tournament in San Bernardino, California, July 18-23. The regional winner advances to the majors softball World Series in Greenville, North Carolina, Aug. 2-9.
Against Ketchikan, the GCLL won 12-2 and 15-3 before taking an 18-15 loss. They then won the title 13-2. Stats were not provided.
The GCLL Majors Softball team are Cecilia Fox, Barbara Hernandez, Kinley Huff, Tearynn Ladd, Addison Lee, Millie Mar, Cora Morris, Jordyn Oliva, Ysabella Rabino, Gabrielle Rodrigo, Delilah Whiteley and Harper Yadao. Manager is Trisha Lee, and coaches are Nicole Adair and Aaron Mar.
The GCLL Juniors (12- to 14-year-olds) Softball all-star team had no other Southeast competition so will represent District 2 at the state tournament in Anchorage against Abbott-O-Rabbit Little League, starting next Thursday. That winner advances to the regional tournament in Tucson, Arizona July 23-29. The regional winner advances to the juniors softball World Series in Kirkland, Washington Aug. 2-8.
The GCLL Juniors are Emelia Boghosian, Alesandra Bohulano, Brooklynn Boyden-Collison, Tayzia Galletes-Swafford, Hina’i Kuma, Porter Love, Augustine Metzgar, Victoria Petrie, Paislee Shane, Katelyn Sulser, Aisha Tapia and Ashlynn Zura. Manager is Maryann Love, and coaches are Shayla Sulser and Andrea Petrie.
The 2026 State Junior Softball Tournament is a best-of-five series.

The GCLL Minors (8- to 10-year-olds) Softball all-star team defeated Ketchikan in a five-game series Monday through Wednesday at Ketchikan for the District 2 Special Games Championship. Minor division all-star teams do not advance any further.
GCLL lost the opening game in their best-of-five series to Ketchikan 10-9, but then won three straight for the title. GCLL won 12-2, 23-9 and 7-4. Statistics were not provided.
The GCLL Minors Softball team are Sage Burrick, McKinley Cameron, Caelynn Chenoweth, Aaliyah Church, Carly Cummins, Teagan Ladd, Jaylenae Lehauli, Cedar Percy, Landry Shane, Lucy Vogel, Ryleigh Whitson, Florence Young and Ilea Zura. Manager is Rena Dalman, and coaches are Stephanie Cameron and Joann Quigg.
Play is also underway for the GCLL baseball all-stars.
The GCLL Minors team is currently playing in the District 2 Special Games Tournament at Sitka. GCLL has defeated KTN 8-4, SLL 26-3, lost to KTN 16-5 and defeated SLL 26-3. KTN defeated SLL 20-1 and 23-2. The tournament finishes Saturday. Minors baseball does not advance past districts.
The GCLL Minors Baseball all-stars are Evan Daniels, Josaia Lehauli, Ellis Woodrow, Odin Dwyer, Triton Kahl, Lincoln Herman, Leighton Howard, Jonathan O’Leary, Saber Stekoll, Jack McCarthy, Brayden Sullivan and Colson Walker. Manager is Sean Howard and coaches are Julie Herman and Jeremy Woodrow.
The GCLL Majors Baseball all-stars play in the District 2 tournament at Ketchikan, July 16-28 with Sitka, Petersburg, Prince of Wales and host Ketchikan. The winner stays to play in the tournament at Ketchikan, Aug. 1-4. The state winner advances to regionals in San Bernardino, California, Aug. 8-14 and the regional winner advances to the World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Aug. 19-30.
The GCLL Majors all-stars are Charles Boghosian, Cooper Duval, Kalon Herman, Landon Love, Gavin Ludeman, Evans Mallott, Max Metzgar, Eli Mulvey, Sebastian Nelson, Cash Stekoll, Indiana Strong, Carter Talatoa and Colt Winkelman. Manager is Ron Winkelman, and coaches are Nick Nelson and Spencer Stekoll.
The GCLL Juniors all-star team will host Ketchikan in the state championship starting next Thursday. There are no other Alaska districts doing junior baseball. The GCLL/Ketchikan winner advances to the regional tournament in Bend, Oregon, July 22-31. The regional winner advances to the World Series in Taylor, Michigan, Aug. 9-16.
The GCLL Juniors all-stars are Rawley Cox, Colin Daniels, Logan Fanning, Eli Hayes, Max Hayes, Wyatt Hickok, Gavin Kohan, Marquis Lim, Bridger Lockhart, Elias Lockhart, Mast Mallott and Reagon Talatoa. Manager is Zach Kohan.
