GCLL Majors Baseball All-Stars head to Ketchikan

Gastineau Channel Little League set to challenge Southeast for path to regionals

The Gastineau Channel Little League Majors Baseball All-Stars cheered on their American Legion counterparts Auke Bay Post 25 against East Post 34 on Saturday at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park field.


The Majors stood with their idols during the national anthem and were recognized for their impending play in the District 2 tournament at Ketchikan, July 16-28, with Sitka, Petersburg, Prince of Wales and host Ketchikan.

The GCLL Majors All-Stars shared their baseball bios before legion action.

Carter Talatoa plays outfield, likes steak and his favorite Major League Player is Shohei Ohtani.


Charles Boghosian plays third base and pitcher, his favorite food is spaghetti, and meatballs and his favorite MLB player is Bo Jackson.


Cash Stekoll plays center field and pitcher, his favorite food is chicken-fried steak and his favorite MLB player is Ezequiel Tovar.


Gavin Ludeman plays third base, first base and pitcher, his favorite food is steak and his favorite MLB player is Randy Johnson.


Indiana Strong plays third base, his favorite food is ravioli and his favorite MLB player is Aaron Judge.


Max Metzgar likes first base, his favorite food is pizza and his favorite MLB player is Nolan Arenado.


Kalon Herman plays second base, his favorite food is steak and his favorite player is Shohei Ohtani.


Evans Mallott likes to play second base and pitcher, his favorite food is pasta and steak, and his favorite MLB player is Elly De La Cruz.


Landon Love is a catcher, his favorite food is steak and his favorite MLB player is Julio Rodriguez.


Colt Winkelman plays catcher, his favorite food is chicken alfredo and favorite MLB player Dominic Canzone.


Sebastian Nelson plays pitcher and first base, his favorite food is his mom’s pho and his favorite MLB player is Ichiro Suzuki.


Cooper Duval plays catcher and pitcher, his favorite food is salmon and favorite player is Paul Skenes.


Eli Mulvey plays pitcher and first base, his favorite food is pasta and favorite player is Chris Sale.


“I love the game of baseball,” assistant coach Spencer Stekoll said. “And I just love watching these boys play. They really make the game look good.”


Other assistant coaches include Nick Nelson and Jason Love.


Head coach/manager Ron Winkelman said he was proud of the team.


“They have worked extremely hard day in and day out,” Winkelman said. He thanked his assistant coaches and the Juneau community for their support.


The winner of the District 2 tournament stays to play in the state tournament at Ketchikan, Aug. 1-4. The state winner advances to regionals in San Bernardino, California, Aug. 8-14 and the regional winner advances to the World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Aug. 19-30.
