Here's what's happening for First Friday in June

June's First Friday will feature pottery shows, author events and visual art shows

Marie Drake Planetarium: Explore the Universe at Planetarium

5:30-7 p.m.

1415 Glacier Ave.


See the night sky, the planets, and the universe with a digital projector. Explore planetarium offerings and bring your astronomy questions, displays on the 30-foot dome will be open to audience input. Suitable for all ages. Use a chair or lie on the floor on a yoga mat.

Hearthside Books: Alaska Literary Field Guide

4:30-7 p.m.

2 Marine Way, Ste. 119 B


Hearthside will feature various authors from the Alaska Literary Field Guide.

Annie Kaill's: Jennifer Heller of Sea & Stone Pottery, ceramicist

4:30-7:30 p.m.

124 Seward St.


Inspired by the textures, tides, and terrain of Southeast Alaska, Jennifer Heller's ceramics work reflects the wild serenity of the region. Heller focuses on functional pieces, with the intention of infusing the ordinary moments of everyday life with beauty.

Juneau Woolies: Shaawat gé Rae Mills

4:30-7 p.m.

217 Seward St.


Shaawat gé Rae Mills was born and raised in Southeast, and has been living on the land of the Aak’w Kwáan for over a decade. They weave Ravenstail, Chilkat and cedar, and also knit, crochet, and bead. Mills has traveled around Alaska instructing traditional thigh-spinning and Ravenstail techniques to many communities.

The Pottery Jungle: Erin Mead, Ceramicist

4:30-8 p.m.

223 Seward St.


The Pottery Jungle will feature local ceramic artist Erin Mead and her latest collection, "Strange Little Friends: Bog Monsters & Butterworts." Designed to be equal parts creepy, cute, and strange, these handmade creature pots are paired with carnivorous butterwort plants.


First Friday opening only.


Willow + Luna: Burnet Productions

4-7 p.m.

117 Seward St.


Willow + Luna will feature Burnet Productions, and her ceramic creations and baked goods.

Harbor Mountain Brewing: Antler Goods Co. (Jaiden Davis) earrings

5-8 p.m.

165 Shattuck Way


Harbor Mountain Brewing will feature earrings made from antlers & porcupine quills by Antler Goods Co. out of Haines. All antlers are from recent hunts from family or friends.

Aan Hít Village House: Intertwined: Returning to Our Roots Opening Night Reception

5-7 p.m.

219 S. Franklin St.


Aan Hít Village House will host the opening reception of Intertwined: Returning to Our Roots, an exhibition celebrating the revitalization and continuation of Tlingit spruce root weaving traditions from Yakutat into the present and future. Curated by acclaimed Tlingit artist Jennifer Younger (Káakax̱aawulga), the exhibition honors master weaver Jennie Wheeler and the artists she has mentored, highlighting stories of cultural continuity, intergenerational learning, and Indigenous artistry through woven works, wearable art, and photography. Light refreshments provided.

Juneau Artists Gallery: Shawna Barkey, Multi-media and jewelry artist

4-8 p.m.

175 S. Franklin St.


Shawna Barkey is the featured artist for the month of June at the Juneau Artists Gallery, showcasing jewelry, beach art creations and fused glass. Spiral Studio designs as well as new eclectic creations celebrating the beauty of Alaska will be on display.

Kindred Post: Kayla Wildlife Co., photography

4:30-7 p.m.

145 S. Franklin St.


Kayla Wildlife Co. will be at Kindred Post with a print pop-up shop featuring animals and landscapes across Alaska.


First Friday opening only.


Spice Juneau Indian Cuisine: Alaskan Wildlife Photography by Nicole Steger, Heather Kiesel, Mallory Reid, and Matt Brown. Live Music by Club 65 and Wine Tasting

4-9 p.m.

Spice Juneau is presenting work by wildlife photographers Nicole Steger, Mallory Reid, Heather Kiesel, and Matt Brown, with live music from Club 65 and a wine tasting at 6 p.m.

The Bear's Lair: Glo Ramirez will share “Heartfelt” a collection of watercolor, acrylic and mixed media

4:30-7 p.m.

Artist Glo Ramirez will show “Heartfelt,” a collection of watercolor, acrylic and mixed media, guided by inspiration over time and created without deadlines. Live music and snacks will be available.
