Lance Victor Martell, 21, taken to LCCC after fleeing officers

The Juneau Police Department arrested Lance Victor Martell, 21, on Friday for an alleged hit-and-run earlier that morning in Douglas.

JPD received a report at about 4:13 a.m. that a blue minivan struck an unoccupied 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe parked outside a residence in the 300 block of I Street in Douglas and then left the area. The Tahoe sustained severe damage to its rear driver-side bumper and was not operational, according to a JPD press release. No injuries were reported, the release notes.

Responding officers followed a trail of vehicle fluid from the accident scene to the 2200 block of Crow Hill Drive, where they located a light-blue Honda Odyssey with severe front passenger-side damage. The Honda was registered to Martell, who officers subsequently located nearby in the Douglas area.

Martell fled from officers on foot and entered a wooded area, but was taken into custody shortly after. He was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and lodged on the following charges and outstanding warrant, according to JPD:

Driving under the influence (DUI), a Class A misdemeanor
Action of an operator immediately after an accident, a Class A misdemeanor
Avoidance of an ignition interlock device, a Class A misdemeanor
Driving while license revoked for DUI, a Class A misdemeanor
An outstanding $7,500 warrant, related to felony DUI and felony assault in the third degree
