A man who fired a shot out the window of a Mendenhall Valley residence Monday night resulted in police surrounding the house for two hours attempting to determine if he was still inside, ultimately arresting him when he was spotted returning to the home, according to the Juneau Police Department.

Ethan Hagh, 22, is accused of firing a single round from an AR-15-style rifle from the window in the 2100 block of Radcliffe Road, which was reported by his roommate in a phone call to emergency officials at about 5:30 p.m., according to a JPD press release issued Tuesday.

"The caller stated that they and other occupants were able to safely exit the residence but were unsure of Hagh’s whereabouts," the release notes.

"JPD officers responded to the scene and attempted to make contact with Hagh; however, he was not located at that time. The caller advised officers that Hagh may have left the residence prior to their arrival, and a nearby resident reported seeing an unknown male walking away from the area."

Officers used drones and a public address system "in an attempt to locate and communicate with Hagh, as well as to observe the interior of the residence," according to the release. Those efforts were unsuccessful

At about 7:25 p.m. Hagh was seen walking back toward the residence and arrested without incident.

An AR-15 rifle inside the residence and a pistol Hagh was carrying were confiscated by police. He was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Hagh has a felony first hearing Tuesday at the Dimond Courthouse on charges of second-degree misconduct involving a weapon (a class B felony), two counts of third-degree assault (a class C felony) and one count of reckless endangerment (a class A misdemeanor), according to the Alaska Court System online database. He has been released from custody pending a preliminary hearing scheduled Feb. 6.

The court database shows no previous criminal cases for Hagh.
