Attempt to Serve
At 1:16 p.m. on Tuesday, Adam Leyva, 56, was arrested on Riverside Drive on a warrant from Wisconsin charging first-degree child sexual assault. He was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
Death Investigation
At 9:39 p.m. on Tuesday, the Juneau Police Department began an investigation into the death of an 89-year-old male. Next of kin has been notified and the circumstances do not appear to be suspicious.
Domestic Dispute
At 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, JPD responded to a report of a domestic incident on Harbor Way between a 51-year-old male and a 35-year-old female. Domestic violence was a factor.
Motor Vehicle Collision With Injury
At 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, a 2021 Honda CRV driven by a 60-year-old female struck a bear on Glacier Highway. The bear ran into nearby woods.
Not a CCFR Call
At 5:08 p.m. on Tuesday, JPD responded to a hit-and-run accident in which a 19-year-old pedestrian was struck on Mendenhall Loop Road. The pedestrian was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital.
Search and Rescue
At 8:37 a.m. on Tuesday, the Alaska State Troopers reported that at 6 p.m. Wednesday a request for medical assistance was received for the lighthouse on Sentinel Island near Juneau. An investigation revealed an adult female tourist had fallen and severely injured her hip. A helicopter was used to transport the injured individual to Juneau for medical care.
Trespassing
At 6:57 a.m. on Tuesday, Joseph Jim, 49, and Gesmine Vassallo Colon, 49, were cited and released on Teal Street for trespassing. Colon was also cited for violating conditions of release.
