A new urgent care facility in downtown Juneau, and the fourth citywide, is scheduled to open Sunday at the rear entrance of SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium’s Front Street Clinic.

The ground-level facility is scheduled to be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, according to a press release issued Friday by the nonprofit tribal health consortium. The clinic — whose patients include people experiencing homelessness and others in need — will continue its general medical, dental and behavioral health services on the building’s second floor.

There are three other year-round urgent care facilities in Juneau, including two SEARHC clinics: the Ethel Lund Medical Center Urgent Care which opened in 2021 near Bartlett Regional Hospital and Vintage Park Campus Urgent Care in the Mendenhall Valley that opened in 2023. The other facility, which opened in 1993, is Juneau Urgent and Family Care on Old Dairy Road near Juneau International Airport.

"From a proximity standpoint we have a number of people that live (downtown) that didn't have urgent care," Matt Carle, a SEARHC spokesperson, said in an interview Friday.

A downtown facility open seasonally from May to September is Coastal Health Concierge Urgent Care on Franklin Street, which opened in 2021.

SEARHC’s downtown urgent care location, in addition to emergency care, will also provide treatment for upper respiratory symptoms, sinus infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal illness, and minor injuries and illnesses, according to SEARHC’s press release.

"The location is designed to better serve residents living and working downtown, in Douglas and Thane, while also supporting visitors and seasonal residents during the busy summer months," the release notes.
