The U.S. Coast Guard icebreaker Storis is scheduled to stop in Juneau from Saturday through Wednesday after completing a 134-day deployment to the north, but no public tours of the ship are scheduled, a spokesperson said Friday.
"The crew of Storis is enroute to the cutter’s temporary homeport of Seattle after steaming more than 17,000 miles and concluding its 134-day deployment to the Arctic Ocean and Alaska Theater of Operations," Nathan Bishop, a Coast Guard spokesperson stationed in Kodiak, wrote in an email Friday.
The 360-foot-long icebreaker was commissioned in Juneau on Aug. 10, 2025, before a deployment in Arctic and other waters in the northern part of the state. Officials have stated the intent is to homeport the Storis in Juneau when upgrades to the vessel are complete, and sufficient support infrastructure for the vessel and crew exists in Juneau. It is spending winters in Seattle in the meantime.
