One foot. Two foot.

The first foot — and then some — fell during a snowstorm in Juneau this weekend, according to the National Weather Service Juneau. The second — more or less — is forecast with accumulations of eight to 13 inches between Sunday night and 3 a.m. Wednesday.

A record 9.6 inches was recorded Saturday at Juneau International Airport, according to the weather service, which noted seven inches of snow had fallen Sunday at its Mendenhall Valley forecast office as of 4 p.m.

The latest storm warning issued at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday calls for multiple rounds of snowfall during the first half of the week.

"(The) main forecast challenge is potential for temperatures to warm up quicker than expected through Sunday night and into Monday morning with the front moving further north, limiting snowfall accumulations," the warning notes. "Another system will bring more accumulating snow to the panhandle Monday night into Tuesday night. The track of this follow up feature could lead to significant swings in snow accumulations from Frederick Sound northward to the Icy Strait corridor."

The forecast calls for lighter snow Monday, moderate snow during the day Tuesday and heavy snow Tuesday night. Highs will be in the 20s and lows around 15 degrees, with winds to 15 miles per hour.

The extended forecast calls for precipitation through next Sunday, with a mix of rain and snow likely starting Thursday.
