A series of snowstorms is expected to result in up to 14 inches of accumulation in Juneau by 6 a.m. Thursday, and lighter accumulations this weekend, according to the National Weather Service Juneau.
A storm that began Tuesday morning resulted in two to four inches of snow by about 2 p.m., according to a winter weather advisory.
"Snow Tuesday afternoon and evening is expected to diminish Tuesday night, but will ramp back up Wednesday morning into Wednesday night," the advisory notes. "Snow accumulations will be highly variable."
Between four to 10 inches of additional snow is forecast for various parts of Juneau by Thursday morning, according to the weather service.
Mixed rain and snow is forecast in some areas such as downtown, where high temperatures of about 40 degrees are forecast Tuesday. Highs in the Mendenhall Valley are expected to be around 30 degrees.
The extended forecast calls for cloudy skies Thursday night and Friday, with snow returning Saturday and possibly continuing at least through Monday, although only light accumulations are expected.
