As Alaska heads into the general election, the Alaska Beacon, Alaska Public Media, KTOO and the Anchorage Daily News have an updated voter guide. Just like we did for the primary election, we worked together to build a guide to help Alaskans make informed choices when they vote, and you can find it in the same place as our guide for the primary election.

Our 2026 Alaska Voter Guide is not intended to replace debates, forums and public statements. It’s an additional tool intended to inform voters about candidates’ positions and to hold them accountable once elected.

We hope it’s a useful resource as Alaskans make their picks for governor, U.S. House, U.S. Senate and the Legislature. Early voting begins Monday, Oct. 19, and Election Day is Nov. 3.

To build the guide, we asked you earlier this year what you wanted us to ask candidates, and formulated questions based on the responses we got.

It’s part of our commitment to the “citizens agenda” type of coverage, where our reporting is focused on what candidates believe and how they would affect things if elected, rather than on who’s ahead in the polls.

We began reaching out to candidates this summer for our primary guide, and we’ve updated the questions for the races for governor, U.S. House and U.S. Senate because the fields have narrowed so dramatically.

For the governor’s race, all four candidates responded. For the U.S. House and Senate races, we received responses from three of the four candidates.

While it isn’t everyone — and we’ll continue pursuing answers — we’re proud to say that this questionnaire is the most complete one that you can find anywhere in Alaska.
