For Suzanne Downing, the Anchorage Daily News showed its editorial bias by not promptly covering the New York Times story about U.S. Senate candidate Mary Peltola. When they got around to it the next day, they noted the Alaska Democratic Party called it a “hit piece” intended to benefit her opponent, Sen. Dan Sullivan.

Last week, Sen. Lisa Murkowski introduced Kyle Reardon to the Senate Judiciary Committee. He and five others have been nominated by President Donald Trump to serve lifetime judicial appointments. She said Reardon would bring “the experience, the intellect, the integrity, and the judicial temperament necessary to be an effective District Court judge.”

Sen. Dan Sullivan is not a free man. At least not as free as Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.). And maybe not as free as his brother Frank. Unlike Alaska’s junior senator who tethered his political fortunes to the unforgiving tyranny of President Donald Trump, they can talk about how the war with Iran and his tariffs have created economic havoc for American households and businesses.
