A big thank you for flood preparation help

A profound thank you to everyone who recently came to prepare my house for the coming jökulhlaup: some special friends, the Beaver Patrol, and numerous members of Rotary.

They brought pallets of filled sandbags from the city pick-up site and filled empty sandbags, on-site, using sturdy frames holding funnels over the bags and a Bobcat with a scoop for the contributed sand. After they put a vinyl "skirt" around the house, they put the hundreds of sandbags in place. One of the Rotarians also brought (on a forklift) a dozen huge SuperSacks filled with sand, to be placed later, in front of the garage doors. There was a hubbub of activity here for a bit over three hours. It was an amazing cooperative effort by many gracious, kind, and helpful folks. I am very grateful indeed.
