About Community and how to contribute

The Community section features non-commercial announcements, events, awards, letters of thanks and other items of interest submitted by readers. Submission of information and photos can come from — but are not limited to — nonprofit organizations, church and social service groups, clubs, schools, and fundraising and event organizers.

Upcoming items such as events should be submitted at least three days in advance. The Independent reserves the right to edit all submissions.
