My name is Fu Bao Hartle, I grew up in Juneau and it is an amazing place to live because it is inclusive for people with disabilities. I will be writing in this online newspaper about topics that are of interest to me. This month I will tell you a little bit about me.
I have my own photography business, Photos by Fu Bao. I like to take photos while I adventure around Southeast Alaska and use them to make note cards, calendars, and prints that are sold at markets and local stores. I have been taking photos since I was young and have always wanted to be a professional photographer because I love to take photos, especially of Alaska. Taking photos has always easier for me than other forms of art because of my disabilities.
I am passionate about advocating for myself and others with disabilities. I am an athlete and spokesperson for Special Olympics Alaska, I participate in ORCA with Southeast Alaska Independent Living (SAIL), am a member of Alaska Peer Power, Juneau, an advocate for the Alaska Key Coalition and an Alaska Folk Festival Member. I also like boating, playing music, playing with my band, Fu Bao and Friends, at the Alaska Folk Festival, cross-country skiing, hanging out with friends, and volunteering for organizations in town.
