This is a developing story.
Rep. Andi Story, D-Juneau, is poised to easily win a fifth two-year term over challenger Annette Kreitzer, R-Haines, and will likely be part of a larger Democratic-led majority when the Alaska Legislature convenes in January.
Story has 4,004 votes (65.1%) to Kreitzer’s 2,134 (34.7%) with all 10 precincts in House District 3 reporting. The tallies do not include some mailed and other ballots that will be counted after Election Day. Such ballots can be accepted up to 15 days after Election Day if postmarked or otherwise cast by that date.
"I feel really good that I'm going to get to continue to serve District 3," Story told the Juneau Independent on Tuesday night.
The results were similar to the Aug. 18 primary, which Story won with 69.8% of the vote to Kreitzer’s 30.2%.
House District 4 Rep. Sara Hannan was unopposed for a fifth term.
The state House appears likely to have at least 21 Democratic and independent members, which means they will not need to lure Republicans into a ruling majority as happened during the past two years, according to Election Night returns from the Alaska Division of Elections.
