Friends of the Flags will remove the U.S. state flags along Egan Drive between 10th Street and Marine Way on Saturday, September 27, beginning at 6:30 a.m. Flag removal should be completed by mid-morning.

Residents should expect temporary right lane closures as the group removes the flags and are asked to

exercise caution along Egan between 10th Street and Marine Way during the morning.

Beginning in 1978, the annual installation of state flags has become a long-standing tradition in Juneau. Friends of the Flags provides new state flags and hardware for the program, which is operated through Tourism Best Management Practices and Travel Juneau. The program relies upon donations and volunteers for support. Those interested in supporting the program can contact Friends of the Flags in care of Travel Juneau, 800 Glacier Ave., Ste. 201, Juneau AK 99801.
