Holy Trinity consecration and dedication celebration on Aug. 9

The public is invited to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church’s consecration and dedication ceremony with a potluck to follow at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at 415 4th St.

A church consecration is a service led by a bishop to officially set apart a church building and altar for worship and sacred use. While Holy Trinity Church was rebuilt after a devastating fire in March of 2006, and has been operating since Christmastime 2009, it has never been formally consecrated.

The occasion is a double celebration for Holy Trinity as the church recently paid off its building loan needed to rebuild after the fire. Bishop Mark Lattime will lead the service, with former rectors, the Rev. Gordon Blue and the Rev. George and Rev. Hunter Silides, assisting. All are welcome to this ceremony and the festive potluck to follow with Luke Weld playing piano. Church tours will be available for those interested.

Holy Trinity is a spiritual community that offers a variety of worship opportunities for its members including daily noonday prayers, services on Sunday, twice-weekly centering prayer (meditation) meetings, as well as a book group, and many other worship and fellowship opportunities. Additionally, Holy Trinity engages in numerous ministries in the community including: the Head Start food ministry, an ecumenical backpack ministry (supplying essential items to prisoners being released from incarceration), a monthly dinner at the Glory Hall, the Mustard Seed resale shop, and regular outreach to the Pioneer Home and the Lemon Creek Correctional Facility.
