Juneau Community Foundation’s Artist Awards applications being accepted until Aug. 15

The Juneau Community Foundation’s 2026 application period for the Artist Awards program is open until 5 p.m. on Aug. 15. Individual artists or groups may receive up to $5,000 to support creation of original work. All art forms including but not limited to visual arts, dance, music, fabric arts, photography, theater, and literary arts are eligible for funding. Artists who have not previously received an award or who completed a prior-awarded project more than two years ago are encouraged to apply.

The Juneau Community Foundation provides funding to individual artists or groups through the Arts Vibrancy Endowment. Since 2020, the Foundation’s Artist Awards program has provided over $145,000 directly to artists producing works in a variety of mediums. Past awardees have produced paintings, new music, ceramics, plays, and traditional textile arts, among others.

“Juneau has earned national recognition as one of the top most vibrant arts communities,” said Sandro Lane, Juneau Community Foundation’s Arts Vibrancy Endowment board leader. “This speaks volumes about the city’s cultural energy and the vital role the arts play in enriching our daily lives. I hope Juneau continues to hold this spot, however, as public revenues decline and fiscal policies become more conservative, securing adequate funding for the arts poses increasing challenges. That’s why the Artist Awards program is so essential. This Arts Endowment will help ensure Juneau’s arts scene remains dynamic and culturally significant for generations. By investing in our creative community, we aim to preserve our status as one of the nation’s most vibrant arts scenes.”
