North Douglas Boat Launch closed until further notice due to sinkhole

Juneau’s Docks and Harbors on Tuesday identified a large sinkhole/pothole that has developed in the North Douglas Boat Launch parking lot.

Out of an abundance of caution, the North Douglas Boat Launch parking lot is currently closed while awaiting further guidance from the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities regarding repairs and a timeline.

At this time it is known how extensive the damage may be beneath the asphalt, as it is believed to be related to a failed culvert pipe under the roadway.

The public is asked to North Douglas Boat Launch parking lot until further notice.
