A suspected intruder in an Auke Bay apartment resulted in a large-scale response by the Juneau Police Department early Friday morning, although nobody was found inside, according to JPD officials.
The response was during the early morning hours to an apartment complex near De Hart's Auke Bay Store, JPD reported.
"One of the residents in the apartment complex there woke up in the middle of the night, and thought they heard someone in their apartment," JPD Deputy Chief Krag Campbell wrote in an email Friday to the Juneau Independent. "So they left and called JPD. We responded and checked the residence and nobody was located. We also checked the other apartments there with the residents consent. Nobody was located."
"We had several officers there because it was right at shift change," Campbell added.
A Facebook post shared by JPD on its official Facebook page at about 11:20 a.m. stated "At this time, it does not appear that anyone had been in the residence unlawfully. The investigation is still ongoing."
