Music, local food, and Alaska brewers highlight fundraiser to support local projects and programs

The Rotary Club of Juneau and Rotary 58º Innovators hosted the 14th Annual Capital Brewfest on Sept. 27 at Centennial Hall.

This year’s event brought together more than 700 attendees, and relied on the support of over 50 volunteers and community members. Live music was performed by The Getting Strangers, food was provided by local vendors, and a wide selection of beer, mead, cider, and non-alcoholic beverages from across Alaska and beyond were available.

The weekend also featured the Brewer’s Dinner, catered by Devil’s Club Brewing Company. The evening paired a multi-course meal with specialty beers, offering guests the chance to connect with brewers in a more intimate setting.

Between the two events, Rotary raised an estimated $25,000–$30,000 to support local nonprofits and Rotary-led projects. Past Brewfest proceeds have funded community efforts such as the Fish Creek Shelter, the Literacy Line Caboose, totem pole restoration, scholarships, and youth exchange.

Brewfest co-founder Cori Mills reflected on the event’s growth:

“It has been incredible to witness the event’s remarkable growth over the years — from an intimate gathering of 500 attendees and 10 breweries in our inaugural year to welcoming more than 1,000 community members and over 20 local breweries. This festival is more than just a celebration of craft brewing; it’s a vital platform that empowers us to make a meaningful impact in our community and beyond.

From Rotary’s efforts to eradicate polio to fostering peace through youth exchange programs, and even building a playground in an underserved neighborhood, the heart of our mission remains ‘service above self.’ Coming together from diverse backgrounds and beliefs, we unite with a common purpose: to uplift our community and create positive change. We invite anyone with a heart for service to join us.”

Rotary expressed its gratitude to the many sponsors, partners, and community members who made this year’s Brewfest possible. A full list of supporters is available at capbrewfest.co.
