Obituary: Joanne Beverly Ecklund

Joanne Beverly Ecklund, 85, passed away on Oct. 27, 2025, in Juneau, Alaska.

She was born in Juneau on Aug.30, 1940, to Paul and Linda Ecklund. Her family lived in Thane until 1956 and then “moved to town.” She graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1958. Joanne worked as a long-distance operator after high school and later worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Juneau, and then for the Postal Service in Douglas and Auke Bay.

She loved the outdoors and when younger she helped her dad in the summers on his troller. Later in life she spent many hours fishing on her 19-foot Glassply she named the Green Hornet with her son Ron and grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Ron Ecklund, and brother Peter Ecklund. She is survived by her brother Jim Ecklund and sister Pauline (Butch) Baker, grandchildren Amber (Trevor) Burns and Vaughn Ecklund; and many nieces and nephews. At Joanne’s request, no services were held.
