Obituary: Oscar Nicholas Griffin

Oscar Nicholas Griffin, 25, of Juneau, passed away on June 30, 2026.

Born in Juneau, Alaska, on July 25, 2000, he graduated from Thunder Mountain High School in 2018. Oscar loved reading and the challenge of mastering skills and projects through self-education, determination, and curiosity. His quiet, introspective nature and gentle soul left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

We would like to honor his life, offer comfort, and invite the community to remember him. Those lucky enough to have met him or felt his presence understand the peace, tranquility, and vigilance that was Oscar. The family asks that donations be made to Juneau SEADOGS or the Safe Advocacy Center instead of flowers.

A small gathering will be held at Sandy Beach in Douglas on Friday, Aug. 7, at 6 p.m. The first shelter is reserved for the celebration. Come share an Oscar story or stop by to say hi. Appetizers, a side dish, and your favorite beverage are welcome. Don’t forget a chair if you plan to stay a while.
