Obituary: Tara Dawn Hansen
Tara Dawn Hansen passed in her sleep and was discovered dead on September 10, 2026. Tara was born in Juneau in 1989 and graduated from Juneau Douglas High School in 2008.

She earned her Associate of Arts degree in Massage Therapy and worked in Juneau, Utqiavik, and Wasilla, Alaska. She had returned to Juneau and recently was excited about starting a new job with Tlingit and Haida.
Tara’s passion and spirit lit up a room. She excelled in volleyball and softball. She was at her best organizing family gatherings and reunions. She made a significant impression on the aid office of CCTHIA although she had worked there for less than a month.
She was preceded in death by her father, Chuck Hansen, and mother, Lily Ann Hansen. She is survived by her brother Cory Dell Hansen, her godparents, Valorie and Dave Ringle, her half sister Christine Hansen, half brother Todd Hansen, Partner Brittni Sollie, Maternal aunts Mary Rivera and Alice Germain, and great aunt Flora Jack, and many other family and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Juneau, on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. A reception and celebration of life will be held in the parish hall immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Eagle River Methodist Camp where Tara served on the board of directors, or to the Shrine of St. Therese.
