(City and Borough of Juneau press release)

The City and Borough of Juneau’s Community Development Department, Capital Transit, and Juneau Coordinated Transportation Coalition (JCTC) community partners invite the public to review and provide comment on the draft 2026 Juneau Coordinated Human Services Transportation Plan (JCHSTP). The draft plan is now available for review at: https://juneau.org/community-development/jctc/jctc-about-us.

The JCHSTP must be updated every five years for CBJ and local partners to access Human Services Transportation Grant Funding through the Alaska Community Transit Office. The 2026 JCHSTP builds on previous transportation planning conducted in Juneau and supplements earlier work with updated information that reflects Juneau’s current transportation landscape. This includes updated demographic information, transportation and ridership data, local service provider information, public survey results, and project priorities. By publishing the 2026 plan, the JCTC ensures that local transportation service providers will keep their eligibility status for grant funding through 2031.

The Assembly Public Works and Facilities Committee (PWFC) will introduce the draft JCHSTP at its meeting on Nov. 2 at 12 p.m., with an opportunity for in-person and virtual public comment at the Regular Assembly meeting at 6 p.m. on Nov. 16.  Residents can also provide written comments to forrest.courtney@juneau.gov until 8 a.m. on Nov. 9.

The Juneau Coordinated Transportation Coalition is a coalition of government, social service, and nonprofit partners that work together to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of transportation in Juneau. JCTC partners provide public transportation for older adults, individuals with disabilities of all ages, and people with lower incomes through coordinated transportation. JCTC community partners provide public transportation for older adults, individuals with disabilities of all ages, and people with lower incomes through coordinated transportation.
