The City and Borough of Juneau in collaboration with the Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska have released the draft list of Mitigation Action Projects for public review and comment.
These project ideas have been selected and prioritized by the Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) planning team and represent an important component of the 2025 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update.
The full draft HMP is expected to be released for public review early next week. While the next public review period for the HMP will be brief due to grant deadlines, the planning team is sharing the Mitigation Action Projects list in advance to give the public as much time as possible to review this key section of the plan. CBJ & T&H anticipate submitting the final, adopted HMP to the State and FEMA by the end of July.
Public input has played an essential role in developing this plan. The HMP draft incorporates feedback from community meetings, the public survey, social media, and comments on the draft risk assessment. If you have feedback on the Mitigation Action Projects, please send comments to laura.young@fairweather.com by July 25, 2025.
