CBJ Parks and Recreation’s Month of Play consists of in-person and do-it-yourself activities July 12 through Aug. 8.
This year’s Month of Play includes eight in-person events and activities, all of which are free:
Trucks N’ Stuff at Dimond Park, July 12 from 1 – 5 p.m.
Food Drive at Zach Gordon Youth Center, July 14–26
Goosechase Scavenger Hunt, July 17–28
Movie in the Park: A Minecraft Movie (PG) at the Dimond Park Field House, July 26 at 2 p.m. (traditional showing) and 6:30 p.m. (sensory-friendly showing)
StoryPath on the Seawalk, Aug. 1–7
Level Up @ the Library, Aug. 2 from 1 – 3 p.m.
Free Family Skate at Treadwell Arena, Aug. 8 from 5 – 6:30 p.m.
Free Disco Skate at Treadwell Arena, Aug. 8 from 7 – 8:30 p.m.
Participants at each event receive an entry ticket for the Month of Play drawing, featuring prizes like pool passes, private rentals at Treadwell Arena and Dimond Park Field House, free youth sports registration, and more. The prize drawing will be held on Aug. 8 during the Free Disco Skate.
Month of Play is also bringing back the Goosechase scavenger hunt. Download the app and search for the "Month of Play 2025" Experience. Team up with family, friends, neighbors, or coworkers to complete missions, answer riddles, and check in at parks or trails. Goosechase missions begin July 17.
Parks and Recreation is offering free equipment rental between July 12 and Aug. 8 as part of Month of Play. One piece of equipment at a time — including pickleball, badminton, bocce ball, and more — can be checked out from the Parks and Recreation office at 1208 Glacier Ave. for a free 24-hour rental. A $25 deposit is required at the time of reservation and refunded once equipment is returned in good condition.
Passport to Play grants free admission to the participant and up to two guardians at Augustus G. Brown Swimming Pool, Dimond Park Aquatic Center, and Dimond Park Field House (Turf for Tots only). You’ll also earn a ticket in the drawing for each visit. Download your Passport from the website beginning July 12 or pick one up at the Trucks N’ Stuff, Movie in the Park, or in the Parks & Recreation Office located at 1208 Glacier Ave.
