Born December 4, 1959, in New York City, Dr. Robinson grew up in North Carolina and Georgia, where his father pursued an ecclesiastical career and his mother became an expert in education, focusing mainly on early childhood.

An aspiring astronaut early on, Dr. Robinson pursued the study of medicine in Chapel Hill, N.C., after graduating Oberlin College with a Biology major. Dr. Robinson’s creativity and sense of adventure included creating a rap operetta as a capstone for his Masters in Public Health, and climbing in the eastern European mountains of Georgia with his dear friend Don Ives as part of Physicians for Social Responsibility/International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War.

In 1994, Dr. Robinson passed Board exams in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry during his two-year stint at Bartlett Memorial Hospital in Juneau, Alaska. For the following 28 years, he conducted a private practice in Juneau, with consultations regionally.

For the benefit of his children and their community peers, "Doc" coached indoor and outdoor soccer for about ten seasons.

He also enjoyed watching musicals and dance events the girls engaged in. For his own joy, Dr. Robinson composed and played a variety of musical styles, including five times on the main stage at the Alaska Folk Festival. He also enjoyed writing and reading poetry.

Throughout, Dr. Robinson sought humor, music and philosophy to balance the vicissitudes of life for himself and others.
